ZeroMAC: Toward a zero sleep delay and zero idle listening media access control protocol with ultralow power radio frequency wakeup sensor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2017
In wireless sensor networks, duty cycling has been an imperative choice to reduce idle listening but it introduces sleep delay. To break through the energy-latency tradeoff, we propose a pair of a radio wave sensor called radio frequency wakeup sensor ...

Highly Anisotropic Quasi‐Direct Organic Metal Halide Hybrids: A Platform for Polarization‐Sensitive Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
One‐dimensional C4N2H14PbBr4 is shown to have a quasi‐direct electronic band structure and strongly anisotropic transport with polarized broadband emission. A GW/Bethe–Salpeter excited‐state force formalism, supported by polarized Raman and temperature‐dependent photoluminescence, identifies low–frequency Pb–Br phonons that drive ultrafast exciton self‐

Coupling of Er3+ ions and Plasmonic Modes in Vertical Nanocavities for Spectral Broadening in Telecom Bands

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Left: Illustration of the glass & nanostructures system and the NIR emission at 1.5 µm, where the colored spheres represent the Er3+ ions within the doped glass. Right: Representation of the Stark splitting of the 4I13/2 and 4I15/2 manifolds of the Er3+, illustrating how the plasmonic modes facilitate the emission from the broader Stark manifold ...

Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.
