The radio continuum emission of star forming galaxies at low to high redshift [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this thesis, the radio-continuum emission of starburst galaxies is explored to understand the physical processes that trace star formation. Separating and constraining these processes require a broad, densely sampled spectral energy distribution that ...

Support‐Controlled Reaction Pathways via Dynamic Sulfur‐Mediated Interfaces for Selective Urea Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐doped graphitized carbon nanofibers act as adaptive catalyst–support platforms, enabling dynamic sulfur‐mediated reconstruction and strong metal–support interactions. This unique behavior enhances catalyst stability and controls reaction pathways, achieving highly selective urea oxidation (∼92% N2) coupled with efficient hydrogen evolution ...

Solar radio continuum storms

open access: yes, 1974
Radio noise continuum emission observed in metric and decametric wave frequencies is discussed. The radio noise is associated with actively varying sunspot groups accompanied by the S-component of microwave radio emissions.

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

A Broadband Search for Coherent Radio Emission in Cataclysmic Variables

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Radio observations of cataclysmic variables have revealed a variety of behaviors. From some systems, we see bright unpolarized radio flares occurring during dwarf nova outbursts, consistent with synchrotron emission from jets.

Observational evidence for the link between the variable optical continuum and the subparsec-scale jet of the radio galaxy 3C 390.3

open access: yes, 2010
The mechanism and the region of generation of variable continuum emission are poorly understood for radio-loud AGN because of a complexity of the nuclear region.

ASKAP–EMU radio continuum detection of planetary nebula NGC 5189: the ‘Infinity’ nebula

open access: yes
We report the radio continuum detection of well-known Galactic Planetary Nebula (PN) NGC 5189, observed at 943 MHz during the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) Evolutionary Map of the Universe (EMU) survey.

Measuring the star formation rate density from CNOC2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This thesis charts the evolution of the Universal Star Formation Rate Density (SFRD) across the redshift range 0.2 < z < 0.6, using the 2nd Canadian Network for Observational Cosmology Survey (CN0C2).
