An updated catalog of OH-maser-emitting planetary nebulae

open access: yes, 2012
Aims. We studied the characteristics of planetary nebulae (PNe) that show both OH maser and radio continuum emission (hereafter OHPNe). These have been proposed to be very young PNe, and therefore, they could be key objects for understanding the ...

Deep WFPC2 and Ground-based Imaging of a Complete Sample of 3C Quasars and Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present the results of an HST and ground-based imaging study of a complete 3C sample of z ~ 1 sources, including 5 quasars and 5 radio galaxies. We have resolved continuum structure around all of our quasars in the WFPC2 images and in four of the five

Nonthermal Radio Continuum Emission from Young Nearby Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2022
Abstract Young and magnetically active low-mass stars often exhibit nonthermal coronal radio emission owing to the gyration of electrons in their magnetized chromospheres. This emission is easily detectable at centimeter wavelengths with the current sensitivity of large radio interferometers like the Very Large Array (VLA).

Radio Emission of Nearby Early-type Galaxies in the Low and Very Low Radio Luminosity Range

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We analyze radio continuum emission of early-type galaxies with dynamical measurements of central supermassive black hole (SMBH) masses and well-characterized large-scale environments, but regardless of the exact level of the nuclear activity.

Detection of radio continuum emission from Procyon

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1993
We have detected the F5 IV-V star Procyon as a weak and variable 3.6 cm radio continuum source using the VLA. The inferred radio luminosity is similar to, though some-what higher than, the X-band luminosity of the active and flaring sun. The 33 micro-Jy flux density level at which we detected Procyon on four of five occasions is close to the 36 micro ...

Radio Continuum Emission and Optical Emission-Line Activity in the Nuclei of Spirals [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1987
As a step towards the understanding of the phenomena occurring in galactic nuclei, we find that the ratio between the radio continuum emission of the nuclei of spiral galaxies and their optical luminosity is related to optical signs of nuclear activity, such as the emission line strengths of the H∝ and [NII] λ6584 lines.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Properties of active galactic star-forming regions probed by imaging spectroscopy with the Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) onboard AKARI

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the structure of the interstellar medium (ISM) and identify the location of possible embedded excitation sources from far-infrared (FIR) line and mid-infrared continuum emission maps.

An H2CO 6cm Maser Pinpointing a Possible Circumstellar Torus in IRAS18566+0408 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report observations of 6cm, 3.6cm, 1.3cm, and 7mm radio continuum, conducted with the Very Large Array towards IRAS18566+0408, one of the few sources known to harbor H2CO 6cm maser emission. Our observations reveal that the emission is dominated by an

A multi-epoch study of radio continuum emission from massive protostars [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2020
ABSTRACT We report the results of the Jansky Very Large Array (JVLA) observation of five massive protostars at 6 and 22.2 GHz. The aim of the study was to compare their current fluxes and positions with previous observations to search for evidence of variability.
