Radio environment map as enabler for practical cognitive radio networks
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2013Latest regulations on TV white space communications and emerging trends of spectrum access through geolocation databases relax the regulatory constraints on Cognitive Radios (CRs). Geolocation databases are designed to store information related to incumbents, and CRs are envisioned to consult this database before spectrum access. Spectrum occupancy and

Radio Environment Maps for 5G Cognitive Radio Network
2019 8th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST), 2019Radio Environment Maps (REMs) have been introduced as a powerful tool in Cognitive Radio Networks to manage inter-transmitter interference. In the evolution of 5G heterogeneous ecosystem REMs are forced to be transformed to a more powerful tool hosting the diverse needs of an immense network.

Real-Time Radio Environment Mapping for Cognitive Radio
2014 National Wireless Research Collaboration Symposium, 2014In this paper it is proposed that cognitive radios consult with a supporting network infrastructure to provide the means by which Quality of Service and coexistence and can be acheived. The network server would either grant or reject transmission requests by estimating, from the cognitive radio's geo-location, the likely impact its transmission would ...

Secure crowdsourced radio environment map construction
2017 IEEE 25th International Conference on Network Protocols (ICNP), 2017Database-driven Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) is the de-facto technical paradigm adopted by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for increasing spectrum efficiency. In such a system, a geo-location database administrator (DBA) maintains spectrum availability information over its service region whereby to determines whether a secondary user can ...

Practical radio environment mapping with geostatistics
2012 IEEE International Symposium on Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks, 2012In this paper we present results from the first application of robust geostatistical modeling techniques to radio environment and coverage mapping of wireless networks. We perform our analysis of these methods with a case study mapping the coverage of a 2.5 GHz WiMax network at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Radio Mapping for Indoor Environments
2009The efficient deployment and robust operation of many sensor network applications depend on deploying relays to ensure wireless coverage. Radio mapping aims to predict network coverage based on a small number of link measurements from sampled locations.
