Characterization of Droplet Formation in Ultrasonic Spray Coating: Influence of Ink Formulation Using Phase Doppler Anemometry and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study explores how machine learning models, trained on small experimental datasets obtained via Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA), can accurately predict droplet size (D32) in ultrasonic spray coating (USSC). By capturing the influence of ink complexity (solvent, polymer, nanoparticles), power, and flow rate, the model enables precise droplet control

Radio jets in NGC 4151

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1982
The relationship between the radio and optical emissions from the nucleus of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 4151 is investigated by mapping the radio radiation from this source at wavelengths of 20 and 6 cm using the Very Large Array of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.

A Simulation Study of Low-power Relativistic Jets: Flow Dynamics and Radio Morphology of FR-I Jets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Radio galaxies are classified into two primary categories based on their morphology: center-brightened FR-I and edge-brightened FR-II. It is believed that the jet power and interactions with the ambient medium govern the deceleration and decollimation of

Record Performance in Vertically Stacked, Solution‐Processed ZTO Schottky Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Schottky diodes based on solution processed sustainable zinc—tin–oxide thin films present an eco‐friendly and versatile alternative to conventional CMOS based technologies. Beyond state‐of‐the‐art performance for vertically stacked solution‐based oxide diodes was achieved, including rectification ratios exceeding nine orders of magnitude, and intrinsic

Absorbed relativistic jets in radio-quiet narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies

open access: yes, 2020
Narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies are peculiar active galactic nuclei. Most of them do not show strong radio emission, but seven radio-quiet (or radio-silent) NLS1s have recently been detected flaring multiple times at 37 GHz by the Metsähovi Radio ...

Tunable Extraordinary Optical Transmission in the Long‐Wavelength Infrared Range Using Electrostatic MEMS Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A MEMS‐integrated metamaterial filter enables continuous, low‐voltage spectral tuning in the long‐wavelength infrared (LWIR). The device employs extraordinary optical transmission in a dual suspended metasurface stack, where electrostatic actuation precisely controls the intermembrane air gap.

Radio jets at high red shift

open access: yes, 1986
Using preliminary results from a large observational program targeting high red-shift radio quasars, we have increased the total number of radio jets known beyond a red shift of 1.5 from 5 to 26, thus generating one of the most uniform and complete ...

VLBI Detections of Compact Nuclei in Spiral-hosted Double-lobed Radio-loud Active Galactic Nuclei (DRAGNs): Evidence for Weak Parsec-scale Jet Activity

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report milliarcsecond-scale VLBI detections of compact radio nuclei in four spiral-hosted double-lobed radio-loud AGNs (spiral DRAGNs), a rare class that challenges the traditional association of powerful jets with elliptical hosts.

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

B1524-136: A CSS quasar with two-sided radio jets

open access: yes, 2002
We present MERLIN, global VLBI and VLBA observations of the high-luminosity, compact steep-spectrum quasar B1524-136 at cm wavelengths. These observations reveal well-defined radio jets on both sides of the active nucleus, a situation which is almost ...
