Operation of the Radio Occultation Mission in KOMPSAT-5 [PDF]
Korea multi-purpose satellite-5 (KOMPSAT-5) is a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite scheduled to be launched in 2010. To satisfy the precision orbit determination (POD) requirement for a high resolution synthetic aperture radar image of KOMPSAT-5, KOMPSAT-

GPS Radio Occultation with CHAMP [PDF]
The GPS (Global Positioning System) radio occultation experiment onboard the German CHAMP (CHAllenging Minisatellite Payload) satellite was activated in February 2001. By the end of 2001 about 36,500 occultations were recorded. We review the occultation data processing at the GFZ and discuss selected first results.

Radio Occultation Exploration of Mars [PDF]
The radio occultation technique, consisting of the observation of changes in the phase, frequency, and amplitude of a radio signal from a spacecraft as it passes through the atmosphere of a planet before and after occultation, was first applied to measure the atmosphere of Mars with the Mariner IV spacecraft in 1965. The interpretation of these changes

The wind shear theory is widely accepted as an explanation for the formation of a sporadic E (Es) layer, but the direct comparison of Es with the local wind shear has been limited due to the lack of neutral wind measurements. This study examines the role
