Recycled radio pulsars

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1994
We review the various radio surveys which have been designed primarily for discovering recycled pulsars. In the 11 years since the first millisecond pulsar, PSR 1937+21, was found, a total of about 55 have been discovered, although most of these have only been found since 1988.

Radio Pulsar Phenomenology

2010
Radio pulsars were discovered more than 40 years ago and continue to provide fertile scientific research programs. The vast majority of the nearly 2000 pulsars known are detected only at radio wavelengths. Current research at radio wavelengths includes surveys for pulsars, pulsar timing, pulsars as probes of Galactic structure, understanding the ...

Weakly radiating radio pulsars

Astronomy Letters, 2004
We analyze the statistical distribution of weakly radiating pulsars, i.e., radio pulsars that have passed to the stage of an orthogonal rotator during the evolution of the inclination angle X. We discuss in detail the factors that lead to a significant reduction in the energy losses for this class of objects.

Radio Pulsar Statistics

2006
Radio pulsars are a major probe of the Galactic neutron star population and its evolution. Our attempts to derive the properties of the underlying, as opposed to the observed, population of radio pulsars in our Galaxy have gradually improved over the years thanks to large-scale surveys and more detailed simulations of the population.

The Radio Emission from Pulsars

Reports on Progress in Physics, 1989
The basic observed properties of pulsar radio emission are reviewed with a view to guiding their interpretation. Particular attention is given to the location of the sources of emission both in normal and in gamma-ray pulsars, with brief reviews of radio propagation in the magnetosphere and of emission mechanisms.

Disks Around Radio Pulsars

2006
The magnetic field around a pulsar varies from the near zone dipole magnetic field (B ∝ r −3) dominating the electric field, to the radiation zone field B ∼ E ∝ r −1, across the light cylinder radius R L = c/Ω. We argue that the transition from near zone to the radiation zone can be very broad if the inclination angle between the rotation and magnetic ...

Radio Pulsar Search Techniques

1989
Pulsar astronomers have been seeKing periodic waveforms in noisy data for nearly 20 years. Throughout this time the sensitivity of these searches have been limited by the available computing resources so that efficient algorithms have been at a premium.

On pulsar radio emission

2016
This work intends to contribute to the understanding of the radio emission of pulsars. Pulsars are neutron stars with a radius of about 10^6 cm and a mass of about one to three solar masses, that rotate with a period between seconds and milliseconds. They exhibit tremendous magnetic fields of 10^8 to 10^13 Gauss.
