FAST Observations of FRB 20220912A: Burst Properties and Polarization Characteristics

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We report the observations of FRB 20220912A using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope. We conducted 17 observations totaling 8.67 hr and detected a total of 1076 bursts with an event rate up to 390 hr ^−1 .

Radio Source Surveys [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2002
The primary goal of radio source surveys is to generate flux-limited samples. Sources selected at very low frequencies are dominated by unbeamed emission and give the only unbiased view of the parent populations used by “unification” models to account for the diversity of sources seen at high frequencies.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Updating the First CHIME/FRB Catalog of Fast Radio Bursts with Baseband Data

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In 2021, a catalog of 536 fast radio bursts (FRBs) detected with the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) radio telescope was released by the CHIME/FRB Collaboration.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Radio Afterglows from Tidal Disruption Events: An Unbiased Sample from ASKAP RACS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Late-time (∼a year) radio follow-up of optically discovered tidal disruption events (TDEs) is increasingly resulting in detections at radio wavelengths, and there is growing evidence for this late-time radio activity to be common to the broad class of ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Low-frequency, Wideband Study of an Active Repeater, FRB 20240114A, with the GMRT

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the detection of 167 bursts from an active repeater, FRB 20240114A, using the upgraded Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope. The observations were carried out over a frequency range of 300–750 MHz, and on four different dates over a period of 6 ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
