A search for variable and transient radio sources in the extended Chandra Deep Field South at 5.5 GHz [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2015
We present a three epoch survey for transient and variables in the extended Chandra Deep Field South at 5.5 GHz with the Australia Telescope Compact Array. A region covering $\sim$0.3 deg$^{2}$ was observed on timescales of 2.5 months and 2.5 years and typical sensitivities 12.1 $-$ 17.1 $μ$Jy beam$^{-1}$ (1$σ$) were achieved.

MULTI-MESSENGER ASTRONOMY OF GRAVITATIONAL-WAVE SOURCES WITH FLEXIBLE WIDE-AREA RADIO TRANSIENT SURVEYS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2015
We explore opportunities for multi-messenger astronomy using gravitational waves (GWs) and prompt, transient low-frequency radio emission to study highly energetic astrophysical events. We review the literature on possible sources of correlated emission of gravitational waves and radio transients, highlighting proposed mechanisms that lead to a short ...

Catalog of Long-term Transient Sources in the First 10 yr of Fermi-LAT Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceWe present the first Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) catalog of long-term γ-ray transient sources (1FLT). This comprises sources that were detected on monthly time intervals during the first decade of Fermi-LAT operations.

A transient radio source consistent with a merger-triggered core collapse supernova [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2021
Radio evidence of a stellar merger Core collapse supernovae occur when a massive star exhausts its fuel and explodes. Theorists have predicted that a similar explosion could occur if an evolved massive star merges with a compact companion, such as a neutron star. Dong et al . have identified a radio source

TEMPORAL SMEARING OF TRANSIENT RADIO SOURCES BY THE INTERGALACTIC MEDIUM [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2013
The temporal smearing of impulsive radio events at cosmological redshifts probes the properties of the ionized Inter-Galactic Medium (IGM). We relate the degree of temporal smearing and the profile of a scattered source to the evolution of turbulent structure in the IGM as a function of redshift.

A Population Study of the Radio Emission of Fast Blue Optical Transients

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Despite the fact that the progenitor of fast blue optical transients (FBOTs) is still a subject of debate, FBOTs are sometimes suggested to originate from the core collapse of ultra-stripped stars and be powered by a spinning-down neutron star. Following

FAST Observations of FRB 20220912A: Burst Properties and Polarization Characteristics

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We report the observations of FRB 20220912A using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope. We conducted 17 observations totaling 8.67 hr and detected a total of 1076 bursts with an event rate up to 390 hr ^−1 .

Direct Imaging Digital Lens for Transient Radio Source Survey [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1991
AbstractFFT based 2D Dygital Lens is discussed comparing with Fourier synthesis. The sensitivity of constructing Large Array will be 50mJy. Precise manipuration of the radiation field is possible in it.

Calculation and Uncertainty of Fast Radio Burst Structure Based on Smoothed Data

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Studies of the time-domain structure of fast radio bursts (FRBs) require an accurate estimate of the FRB dispersion measure in order to recover the intrinsic burst shape.

Resonance Cones in the Field Pattern of a Short Radio Frequency Probe in a Warm Anisotropic Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
An experimental investigation of the angular field pattern of a small radio frequency probe in a plasma in a magnetic field is described. The field is observed to become very large along a resonance cone whose axis is parallel to the static magnetic ...
