The lower hybrid wave cutoff: A case study in eikonal methods

open access: yes, 2010
Eikonal, or ray tracing, methods are commonly used to estimate the propagation of radio frequency fields in plasmas. While the information gained from the rays is quite useful, an approximate solution for the fields would also be valuable, e.g., for ...

Joint Control of Radiated and Surface Waves via Space‐Time Coding Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A unified space‐time coding metasurface platform enables simultaneous control of radiated and surface‐confined waves across multiple harmonics. Demonstrated functionalities include multi‐frequency beam shaping; surface‐wave excitation, and hybrid multiplexing.

Propagation of Light in the Field of Stationary and Radiative Gravitational Multipoles

open access: yes, 2006
Extremely high precision of near-future radio/optical interferometric observatories like SKA, Gaia, SIM and the unparalleled sensitivity of LIGO/LISA gravitational-wave detectors demands more deep theoretical treatment of relativistic effects in the ...

A Van der Waals Optoelectronic Synapse with Tunable Positive and Negative Post‐Synaptic Current for Highly Accurate Spiking Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A van der Waals optoelectronic synaptic device based on a ReS2/WSe2 heterostructure and oxygen‐treated h‐BN is presented, which enables both positive and negative PSCs through photocarrier polarity reversal. Bidirectional plasticity arises from gate‐tunable band bending and charge trapping‐induced quasi‐doping.

Analysis of the efficiency of earthquake prediction based on the anomalous behavior of ionospheric parameters on the eve of earthquakes in the Kamchatka region

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
A method is presented for short-term prediction of strong earthquakes, in which the precursors are considered the excess of current values of foF2 critical frequency of the ionospheric F2 layer over the median values in periods of perturbed state of the ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Calculation of seismic regime parameters on the basis of a probabilistic model of Kamchatka earthquake catalogue

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
In the present paper on the basis of a probabilistic interpretation of the earthquake repetition law, simple formulas were obtained which allow us from the known number of earthquake events in a representative interval of energy class (magnitude) to ...
