De novo congenital malformation frequencies in children from the Bryansk region following the Chernobyl disaster (2000–2017)

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
Background: Ionizing radiation and chemical pollution can disrupt normal embryonic development and lead to congenital malformations and fetal death. We used official government statistical data for 2000–2017 to test the hypothesis that radioactive and ...

Modelling the Effects of Radioactive Effluent on Thunnus orientalis and Oncorhynchus gorbuscha

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
The contamination of the Pacific Ocean by the radioactive pollutants released from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant has raised legitimate concerns over the viability of marine wildlife. We develop a modified Crank-Nicholson method to approximate

Comprehensive Review on Zeolite-Based Nanocomposites for Treatment of Effluents from Wastewater

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
All humans and animals need access to clean water in their daily lives. Unfortunately, we are facing water scarcity in several places around the world, and, intentionally or unintentionally, we are contaminating the water in a number of ways. The rise in

More About Radioactive Pollution [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Scope, 2012
Radiation is the emission of particle or energy in wave form. This is stated as electromagnetic radiation. Examples consist of: visible light, radio waves, microwaves, infrared and ultraviolet lights, X-rays, and gamma-rays (1). Radiation can be described as two basic types, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

Spatial variation of the incidence of cancerous diseases in Al-Najaf Governorate for the period (2005-2011)

open access: yesآداب الكوفة, 2013
The study showed that cancerous disease is a very serious health problem that was the product of the environment in both its natural and human branches to a large extent, especially the impact of the environmental pollution factor, which played an ...

Molecular sieve vacuum swing adsorption purification and radon reduction system for gaseous dark matter and rare-event detectors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In the field of directional dark matter experiments, SF6 has emerged as an ideal target gas. A critical challenge with this gas, and with other proposed gases, is the effective removal of contaminant gases. This includes radon which produce unwanted background events, but also common pollutants such as water, oxygen, and nitrogen, which can capture ...

The Role of Radioactivities in Astrophysics [PDF]

open access: yesIn "Astronomy with Radioactivities'', as Chapter2, Eds. Roland Diehl, Dieter H. Hartmann, and Nikos Prantzos, Springer Lect. Notes in Physics, Vol. 218, 2010, 2010
I present both a history of radioactivity in astrophysics and an introduction to the major applications of radioactive abundances to astronomy.

IMPACT OF RADIATIONS ON EARTHWORMS [PDF]

open access: yesExploratory Animal and Medical Research, 2019
Radiations include electromagnetic radiation, including light and radio waves and high-energy ionizing radiation released by the decay of radioactive isotopes including X-rays, gamma, alpha and beta rays that can damage human and animal health by ...

Electron events from the scattering with solar neutrinos in the search of keV scale sterile neutrino dark matter [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. D 89, 093017 (2014), 2013
In a previous work we showed that keV scale sterile neutrino dark matter $\nu_s$ is possible to be detected in $\beta$ decay experiment using radioactive sources such as $^3$T or $^{106}$Ru. The signals of this dark matter candidate are mono-energetic electrons produced in neutrino capture process $\nu_s + N' \to N +e^-$.
