Sources of radioactivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
This report is a summary of Hanford releases to the atmosphere of {sup 131}I, {sup 133}Xe, {sup 135}Xe, and tritium, during the period Sept. 1961 to Dec. 1963. The {sup 131}I released from the two separations plants stacks is measured continuously. Other potential sources of radioiodine to the atmosphere are also monitored, but the release rates from ...

Green chitosan–starch–polyvinyl alcohol bio-composite hydrogel for zirconium capture from zircon raffinate

open access: yesBMC Chemistry
A novel polymer-based sorbent comprising three blended components was synthesized via aqueous mixing and ultrasonication for the efficient removal of Zr(IV) from highly acidic solutions. Characterization by FT-IR, SEM, and surface area analysis confirmed

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

The Preparation Method of 22Na Gamma Radiation Source

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes
Gamma-ray densitometers are widely used in industry due to their insensitivity to the measured medium and convenient installation. The gamma-ray radioactive source is the core component of the gamma-ray densitometer.
