Decontamination of radioactive wastewater: State of the art and challenges forward [PDF]

open access: yesChemosphere, 2019
Radioactive substances have been widely used in many industrial sectors, e.g. nuclear power station, biomedical engineering, etc. With increasing applications of nuclear technology, more and more radioactive wastewater is being generated via different channels, which indeed is posing an emerging challenge and threat to the environment and human health.

Removal of 177Lu from radioactive wastewater using Montmorillonite clay [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Radiation and Isotopes
Because radioactive 177Lu has a wide range of possible applications in radiopharmaceuticals, its removal from medical wastewater is particularly important. Montmorillonite clay was employed as an adsorbent in this study. Radioactive solutions were prepared with dilutions of the solution containing 177Lu at various concentrations, in which it was ...

Treatment of radioactive wastewater using direct contact membrane distillation

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2013
Direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) was used to treat low level radioactive wastewater (LLRW). The dusty gas model (DGM) was used to analyze the mass transfer mechanism and calculate the permeate flux. The operating parameters such as feed temperature, feed velocity and feed concentration were studied.
