The radiofrequency radiation dosimetry handbook: Reminiscences

Bioelectromagnetics, 1999
This paper traces the history of the development of the Radiofrequency Radiation Dosimetry Handbook and its subsequent impact on radio frequency radiation exposure standards. The author's recollections are used to illustrate the behind the scenes efforts of the individuals involved in this project.

Electromagnetic Fields and Radiofrequency Radiation

2006
AbstractThis chapter discusses the link between electromagnetic fields and cancer, focusing on the nonionizing part of the electromagnetic spectrum, and within that range, only with frequencies up to 300 GHz. Topics covered include the interaction of nonionizing radiation with biological systems, potential mechanisms of carcinogenicity, public concern ...

MEDICAL ASPECTS OF RADIOFREQUENCY RADIATION OVEREXPOSURE

Health Physics, 2002
Despite seemingly widespread concerns about radiofrequency radiation overexposure to the general population, there is very little in the medical literature that addresses this issue. This article is written by a consensus-forming body composed of physicians, biologists, engineers, and physical scientists.

Biological Effects of Radiofrequency Radiation

Health Physics, 1991
The radiofrequency (RF) portion of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum between 0.5 MHz and 100 GHz is a significant factor in numerous industrial and military as well as consumer and medical applications. Certain organ and organ systems can be affected by RF energy absorption. Biological reactions are a response to thermal energy conversion.

Radiofrequency Radiation and replication studies

2007
The induction of genotoxic effects after exposure to radiofrequency radiation represents one of the important aspects in the risk assessment of human exposure because of a close correlation between DNA damage and carcinogenesis. Most of the papers on this topic, published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, refer to experiments conducted by ...

A RADIOFREQUENCY RADIATION EXPOSURE APPARATUS

1970
Abstract : A radiofrequency radiation exposure apparatus was developed and placed into operation at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine. The rectangular coaxial device has dimensions of 4 3/4 ft. by 9 1/4 ft. by 30 ft., with a 6-ft.- wide center conductor. It is powered by a 50-kwp. transmitter and operates in a pulsed mode at frequencies of 10.5, 19.

Radiofrequency radiation safety standards

1988. IMTC-88. 5th IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference, 2003
The history of radio-frequency radiation safety standards is outlined and a few of the recommended standards and guidelines in the late 1980s are described. Standards in the USSR are included. The philosophical basis of these standards and issues which must be addressed by future standards are discussed. >

A Suggested Limit for Population Exposure to Radiofrequency Radiation

Health Physics, 1983
Unlike a number of other nations, the U.S. does not currently have guidelines for the exposure of the public to radiofrequency (RF) radiation. In order to determine whether the current data base was sufficient to support an interim determination of a limit for population exposure to RF radiation (0.5 MHz-100 GHz), a critical and comprehensive review of

Cardiovascular Responses to Radiofrequency Radiation

1995
Cardiovascular changes during heating due to radiofrequency radiation (RFR) exposure have been reviewed previously.1 That review focused on physiological responses in animals, and compared studies of conventional environmental heating. Poison and Heynick2 also performed a recent review of bioeffects, including cardiovascular effects, due to RFR ...
