Validation of Water Radiolysis Models Against Experimental Data in Support of the Prediction of the Radiation-Induced Corrosion of Copper-Coated Used Fuel Containers

open access: yesCorrosion and Materials Degradation
Copper has been proposed as a container material for the disposal of used nuclear fuel in a number of countries worldwide. The container materials will be subject to various corrosion processes in a deep geological repository, including radiation-induced

Low dose ionising radiation produces too few ROS to directly affect antioxidant concentrations in cells

open access: yes, 2012
It has been hypothesized that radiation-induced oxidative stress is the mechanism for a wide range of negative impacts on biota living in radioactively contaminated areas around Chernobyl.

Radiation chemical processes in the water layer on the surface of PuO2

open access: yesFrontiers in Nuclear Engineering
It is generally accepted that radiolysis of water on the surface of PuO2 by alpha particles is the source of H2 which can cause pressurisation in sealed storage containers if the material is not adequately conditioned before packing.

Toward Multi(radio)metalated DNA: Enzymatic Polymerization of Metal‐Chelate‐Modified Deoxyribonucleoside Triphosphates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 27, 1 July 2026.
This work presents the first enzymatic polymerization of defined metal‐chelator‐modified nucleotides that leverage polymerase fidelity for uniform (radio)metal loading with successful incorporation of five different metals: Ga, In, Tb, Lu, and Y.

The effect of flow on radiolysis in liquid phase-TEM flow cells

open access: yesNano Express, 2023
Applying a continuous flow to rinse radiolytic species from the irradiated volume is a widely proposed strategy to reduce beam-related artefacts in Liquid-Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy (LP-TEM).

Carboranyl‐Curcuminoids for the Neutron Capture‐Based Treatment of Amyloid Aggregates in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 10B‐enriched monocarbonyl analog of curcumin (BMAC) 10B‐9 enables site‐specific Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on amyloid‐β (Aβ) fibrils. Neutron irradiation induces histidine oxidation and fibril destabilization, as revealed by 1H‐NMR and FESEM analyses.

Research on Primary Radiolysis Products of TBP Using Exogenous Alpha Particles

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
In the spent fuel reprocessing process, extractants and extraction systems are subjected to intense radiation from various types of rays. Under such strong radiation fields, these extractants inevitably undergo physicochemical changes, such as chemical ...
