Precise prelaunch radiometric calibration of VIIRs

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
The paper presents the new approach that includes technique, scheme and instruments for precise calibration of space-borne and airborne visible infrared imaging radiometers (VIIRs). The key component of this technique is the precise uniform light source based on optically-interconnected integrating spheres.

Radiometric Calibration for Internet Photo Collections

2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2017
Radiometrically calibrating the images from Internet photo collections brings photometric analysis from lab data to big image data in the wild, but conventional calibration methods cannot be directly applied to such image data. This paper presents a method to jointly perform radiometric calibration for a set of images in an Internet photo collection ...

Radiometric calibration updates to the Landsat collection

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
The Landsat Project is planning to implement a new collection management strategy for Landsat products generated at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center. The goal of the initiative is to identify a collection of consistently geolocated and radiometrically calibrated images across the entire Landsat ...

Radiometric Calibration from Noise Distributions

2007 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2007
A method is proposed for estimating radiometric response functions from noise observations. From the statistical properties of noise sources, the noise distribution for each scene radiance value is shown to be symmetric for a radiometrically calibrated camera.

Radiometric calibration from a single image

Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2004. CVPR 2004., 2004
Photometric methods in computer vision require calibration of the camera's radiometric response, and previous works have addressed this problem using multiple registered images captured under different camera exposure settings. In many instances, such an image set is not available, so we propose a method that performs radiometric calibration from only ...

Radiometric Linearity Calibration

SPIE Proceedings, 1985
Two causes of nonlinearity are identified in cryogenic radiometric and interferometer systems: (1) multiple time constant response in doped germanium and silicon detectors, and (2) voltage sensitive thick-film resistors used as detector load or transirnpedance feedback resistors. Experimental methods used to evaluated the nonlinear coefficients include

Photometric stereo with auto-radiometric calibration

2011 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision Workshops (ICCV Workshops), 2011
We propose a novel method for estimating surface normals and a radiometric response function of a camera at the same time. Photometric stereo assumes that a camera is radiometrically calibrated in advance, so that image irradiance values can be determined from observed pixel values.

Reducing uncertainty in the AIRS radiometric calibration

Earth Observing Systems XXIII, 2018
The Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) radiometric calibration coefficients convert the counts measured from the instruments A/D converters (Level 1A) to SI traceable radiance units (Level 1B). The calibration equations are based on how the instrument operates and follow a simple second order relationship between counts and radiance.

On field radiometric calibration for multispectral cameras

2017 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), 2017
Perception systems for outdoor robotics have to deal with varying environmental conditions. Variations in illumination in particular, are currently the biggest challenge for vision-based perception. In this paper we present an approach for radiometric characterization of multispectral cameras.

Radiometric calibration based on antenna model

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has been developing from single-working mode to multi-working model. And the antenna pattern becomes hundreds and thousands, which causes a huge burden on radiometric calibration. Using antenna models to replace the measured antenna patterns in radiometric calibration can greatly simplify the calibration duties.
