Radiometric method for the rapid detection of Leptospira organisms

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1986
A rapid and sensitive radiometric method for detection of Leptospira interrogans serovar pomona and Leptospira interrogans serovar copenhageni is described. Stuart's medium and Middlebrook TB (12A) medium supplemented with bovine serum albumin, catalase, and casein hydrolysate and labeled with 14C-fatty acids were used.

Detection of Mycoplasma hominis septicemia by radiometric blood culture

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1985
The ease with which Mycoplasma hominis can be recovered and the frequency of its occurrence in septicemia may not be fully appreciated. We detected the growth of M. hominis radiometrically with an automated blood culture instrument. The organism grew in both aerobic and anaerobic culture media, but the cultures were not visibly positive.

Radiometric Transmitter with Combined Resonance Scintillation Detection System

2008 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference, 2008
A Radiometric Transmitter with Combined Resonance Scintillation Detection System is proposed for the determination of the density rho, the effective atomic number Zeff and other parameters that characterize the technological attributes of materials.

Radiometric methods for detection in blots

1994
Abstract Radioisotopes are used extensively to label probes for many blotting applications. This chapter considers the best methods for detecting them efficiently. The most widely used methods involve autoradiographic detection on X ray film.

Microwave Radiometric Detection of Thermal Asymmetry of Varicocele

MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005
Varicocele, a varicose enlargement of the veins in the spermatic cord, is found in 21-39% of men being evaluated for infertility. Thermometric detection of this condition was attempted by microwave radiometry as well as by contact thermometry using thermistor probes. The inguinal and scrotal regions of 44 male subjects and inguinal regions of 11 female

Fire detection by low-cost microwave radiometric sensors

2008 Microwave Radiometry and Remote Sensing of the Environment, 2008
This paper discuss the possibility to detect a fire exploiting microwave radiometric sensors. In particular the experiences carried-out at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany and at the University of Perugia, Italy, are described. At the University of Duisburg-Essen a multi-frequency radiometer, capable of full 2-40 GHz coverage, has been ...

8MM Radiometric Simulation Detection Based on Optical Image

International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 2003
Widely applied in the fields of guidance and remote sensing, millimeter wave radiometer is a typical passive detection system. Radiometric simulation detection based on optical image is presented as a new approach of target detection. In this paper, we mainly discuss the design proposal of software structure and the output results of simulation system.

MM-band radiometric system for contraband detection applications

Fourth International Kharkov Symposium 'Physics and Engineering of Millimeter and Sub-Millimeter Waves'. Symposium Proceedings (Cat. No.01EX429), 2002
International passenger transportation by air, rail, automobile or sea transport is growing daily. One of the major tasks of the customs service is examination of passengers and their luggage for detection of foreign objects and prohibited substances, e.g. weapons, narcotic substances and illicit items.

[Detection of bacteremia by biphasic and radiometric methods].

Quaderni Sclavo di diagnostica clinica e di laboratorio, 1986
During one year period our laboratory carried out 859 hemocultures. These have been evaluated with two methods: a conventional biphasic method (Castaneda bottles), and the automated radiometric method (Bactec System). 185 cultures were obtained with one or both methods.
