Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Comparison of heart-sparing radiation techniques for left-sided breast cancer: DIBH combined with tangential 3D radiation vs. conventional and tangential VMAT techniques

open access: yesRadiation Oncology
Background Adjuvant radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery reduces local recurrence and improves survival in breast cancer. For left-sided tumors, achieving homogeneous target coverage while minimizing dose to organs at risk (OARs), particularly ...

Simultaneous integrated boost therapy of carcinoma of the hypopharynx/larynx with and without flattening filter - a treatment planning and dosimetry study

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2017
Background The aim of this study was to investigate if the flattening filter free (FFF) irradiation mode of a linear accelerator (linac) is advantageous as compared to the flat beam (FF) irradiation mode in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Novel radiation-derived gene blueprint stratifying patients with breast cancer

open access: yesDiscover Oncology
Background Breast cancer (BC) is a prevalent global malignancy with a high recurrence rate. The effectiveness of predictive, preventive, and personalized treatment strategies is limited by a lack of reliable prognostic biomarkers.

Radiotherapy for mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma of the ocular adnexa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Objectives: We investigated the results of radiotherapy for mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma of the ocular adnexa. Methods: Twenty-one patients with MALT lymphoma of the ocular adnexa were treated with radiotherapy alone at a dose ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Standard-dose versus high-dose conformal radiotherapy with concurrent and consolidation carboplatin plus paclitaxel with or without cetuximab for patients with stage IIIA or IIIB non-small-cell lung cancer (RTOG 0617): a randomised, two-by-two factorial phase 3 study

open access: yesThe Lancet Oncology, 2015
Summary Background We aimed to compare overall survival after standard-dose versus high-dose conformal radiotherapy with concurrent chemotherapy and the addition of cetuximab to concurrent chemoradiation for patients with inoperable stage III non-small ...
