The Proton Radius Puzzle [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 2015
The proton size, specifically its charge radius, was thought known to about 1% accuracy. Now a new method probing the proton with muons instead of electrons finds a radius about 4% smaller, and to boot gives an uncertainty limit of about 0.1%.

The Observability Radius of Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2016
This paper studies the observability radius of network systems, which measures the robustness of a network to perturbations of the edges. We consider linear networks, where the dynamics are described by a weighted adjacency matrix, and dedicated sensors ...

The quadratic scalar radius of the pion and the mixed $\pi-K$ radius

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2003
We consider the quadratic scalar radius of the pion, $$, and the mixed $K-\pi$ scalar radius, $$. With respect to the second, we point out that the more recent (post-1974) experimental results in $K_{l3}$ decays imply a value, $=0.31\pm0.06 {\rm fm}^2 ...

Waste Is the New Wealth – Recovering Resources From Poultry Wastewater for Multifunctional Microalgae Feedstock

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
To meet the increasing demands of the growing population and to cope with the challenges of global change, both the production of biological feedstock and the recovery of recyclable natural resources play a critical role.

Effects of systemically administered abaloparatide, an osteoanabolic PTHrP analog, as an adjuvant therapy for spinal fusion in rats

open access: yesJOR Spine, 2021
Background Abaloparatide is a parathyroid hormone receptor agonist that increases bone formation and reduces vertebral and nonvertebral fracture risk in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Pilot-Scale Cultivation of the Snow Alga Chloromonas typhlos in a Photobioreactor

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
The most studied and cultivated microalgae have a temperature optimum between 20 and 35°C. This temperature range hampers sustainable microalgae growth in countries with colder periods.

Proximal Femur Responses to Sequential Therapy With Abaloparatide Followed by Alendronate in Postmenopausal Women With Osteoporosis by 3D Modeling of Hip Dual‐Energy X‐Ray Absorptiometry (DXA)

open access: yesJBMR Plus, 2022
Previous subgroup analyses from the ACTIVE trial in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis (NCT01343004) using three‐dimensional (3D)‐processing of dual X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans indicated greater increases in total hip cortical volumetric bone ...
