On spectral radii of unraveled balls

open access: yes, 2018
Given a graph $G$, the unraveled ball of radius $r$ centered at a vertex $v$ is the ball of radius $r$ centered at $v$ in the universal cover of $G$. We prove a lower bound on the maximum spectral radius of unraveled balls of fixed radius, and we show ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Response rates for hip, femoral neck, and lumbar spine bone mineral density in patients treated with abaloparatide followed by alendronate: Results from phase 3 ACTIVExtend

open access: yesBone Reports, 2019
Abaloparatide is a selective activator of the parathyroid hormone type 1 receptor signaling pathway that favors the stimulation of bone formation. Here, we report a prospective, exploratory analysis of bone mineral density (BMD) response rates comparing ...

Extraction of the Proton Charge Radius from Experiments

open access: yesMakara Journal of Science, 2016
The static properties of hadrons, such as their radii and other moments of the electric and magnetic distributions, can only be extracted using theoretical methods and cannot be directly measured from experiments.

Euclidean operator radius and numerical radius inequalities

open access: yesOperators and Matrices
Let $T$ be a bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space $\mathscr{H}.$ We obtain various lower and upper bounds for the numerical radius of $T$ by developing the Euclidean operator radius bounds of a pair of operators, which are stronger than the existing ones. In particular, we develop an inequality that improves on the inequality $$ w(T) \geq

Development and Validation of a One‐Dimensional Finite Difference Simulation Scheme for Polymer Laser Powder Bed Fusion with Application to the Effect of the Inter Layer Time

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents an efficient simulation approach for the polymer laser powder bed fusion process polymers process, validated with polyamide 12, polyamide 6, and polyetherketoneketone. It shows that inter layer time affects part density, with 90s yielding dense parts.

Computing the Eccentricity Distribution of Large Graphs

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2013
The eccentricity of a node in a graph is defined as the length of a longest shortest path starting at that node. The eccentricity distribution over all nodes is a relevant descriptive property of the graph, and its extreme values allow the derivation of ...
