The intracellular domain of TLR2 is capable of high‐affinity Zn binding: possible outcomes for the receptor activation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) are important in the innate immune system. This study explores the zinc‐binding ability of the TLR2 TIR domain (TLR2TIR). We found that TLR2TIR binds zinc with nanomolar affinity through its cysteine residues. Two of them, C673 and C713, are vital for receptor activation, indicating that zinc may play a role in initiating ...

Local Estimate on Convexity Radius and decay of injectivity radius in a Riemannian manifold [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we prove the following pointwise and curvature-free estimates on convexity radius, injectivity radius and local behavior of geodesics in a complete Riemannian manifold $M$: 1) the convexity radius of $p$, $\operatorname{conv}(p)\ge \min\{\frac{1}{2}\operatorname{inj}(p),\operatorname{foc}(B_{\operatorname{inj}(p)}(p))\}$, where ...

Generalized Euclidean Operator Radius [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper, we introduce the $f-$operator radius of Hilbert space operators as a generalization of the Euclidean operator radius and the $q-$operator radius. Properties of the newly defined radius are discussed, emphasizing how it extends some known results in the literature.

Effects of abaloparatide and teriparatide on bone resorption and bone formation in female mice

open access: yesBone Reports, 2020
Intermittent administration of PTH type 1 receptor (PTH1R) agonists increases bone remodeling, with greater stimulation of bone formation relative to bone resorption causing net gains in bone mass. This pharmacodynamic feature underlies the bone-building

Practical Method to Evaluate the Stiffness of Fractured Radius

open access: yesMethods and Protocols, 2023
Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are one of the most common fractures of the upper extremity system. To evaluate the performance of DRF treatments, the construct (i.e., a DRF fixed by an implant) was compressed at the distal radius in the axial direction ...

The extremal spectral radii of $k$-uniform supertrees

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we study some extremal problems of three kinds of spectral radii of $k$-uniform hypergraphs (the adjacency spectral radius, the signless Laplacian spectral radius and the incidence $Q$-spectral radius). We call a connected and acyclic $k$

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

Perancangan Sistem Pakar Diagnosis Penyakit pada Bayi dengan Metode Forward Chaining Berbasis Android

open access: yesJuTISI (Jurnal Teknik Informatika dan Sistem Informasi), 2019
In infancy, the age of 0-12 months is a very important period in the process of human growth and development. The process of growth and development at this time affects the child's growth and development in the next period and to reduce mortality in ...

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.
