Health Physics, 1983Measurements of radon and radon daughters in 11 buildings in five states, using active or passive solar heating, showed no significant excess in concentrations over the levels measured in buildings with conventional heating systems. Radon levels in two buildings using rock storage in their active solar systems exceeded the U.S.

Radon Daughter Exposures in the U.K.
Health Physics, 1983Exposure due to the inhalation of the short-lived daughters of 222Rn is the single largest contributor to the exposure of the U.K. population. A survey of dwellings situated largely in the centers of population indicates an annual exposure of 0.16 WLM, on the average.

An air sample is obtained and the total alpha disintegrations in three selected time intervals after the end of air sampling determined.

Science of The Total Environment, 1985Radon and radon daughter concentrations have been measured in 33 "energy-efficient" homes in a small subdivision in Kanata, Ontario. Integrated radon measurements were determined over three month periods for a year using solid state nuclear track detectors.

Health Physics, 1980Abstract Measurements of radon and radon daughters were carried out in 14 Canadian cities on a total of 9999 homes selected in a statistically random manner. The geometric means of the different cities varied from 0.14 to 0.88 pCi/l for radon and 0.0009 to 0.0036 Working Levels for radon daughters.
