Influence of Asymmetric Rail Cant on Rail Corrugation in Metro Small-radius Curve Sections

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] A reasonable rail cant can improve the wheel-rail matching relationship, effectively reduce wheel-rail contact pressure and mitigate wheel-rail wear.

Integrated Floating Slab Dynamic Vibration Absorber Based on Tuned Liquid Particle Damping: Theory, Modeling, and Experimentation

open access: yesStructural Control and Health Monitoring, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
As subway train‐induced low‐frequency vibrations continue to rise, there is an increasing need for more effective vibration control strategies. Although current low‐frequency vibration reduction methods offer some solutions, further progress is necessary.

A STUDY ON THE WHEELSET/SLAB TRACK VERTICAL INTERACTION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with the interaction between a moving wheelset and a slab track due to the short-pitch corrugated rail. The wheelset is modeled using a free-free Timoshenko beam with attached rigid bodies as the axle boxes, wheels and brake discs.

Crane Rail Health Monitoring With Laser Vibrometry

open access: yesStructural Control and Health Monitoring, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This paper proposes a method for the evaluation of the combined system of heavy port cranes and the rails on which they run and demonstrates its success. Using techniques from railroad track health monitoring, we record the guided waves created in the rails from the movement of the wheels using laser‐based vibrometry.

A study of crashworthiness performance in thin‐walled multi‐cell tubes 3D‐printed from different polymers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 141, Issue 48, December 20, 2024.
Crashworthiness Analyis of 3D‐Printed Thin‐Walled Tubes. Abstract Multicellular, thin‐walled impact tubes have been intensely studied and used in various engineering fields in recent years due to their lightweight, high performance, ease of application, superior energy absorption, and stable deformation characteristics. In this study, energy absorption,

Development of rail surface roughness continuous measurement trolley using asymmetrical chord method and application for rail corrugation measurement

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
Rail corrugation is a periodic rail surface roughness that is formed as the rolling stock runs repeatedly on the rail. The rail corrugation occurs in various track alignment and track structures, but the generation mechanism and wavelength determination ...

Harnessing Extrinsic Dissipation to Enhance the Toughness of Composites and Composite Joints: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review of Recent Advances

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 51, December 19, 2024.
This review highlights how toughness of laminated structures can be manipulated by engineering heterogeneity and microstructure of interfaces, bond lines and substrates. These techniques favor dissipation‐enhancing mechanisms such as fragmentation, long‐range bridging and can only be described by innovative modeling approaches. Abstract Interfaces play

Sustainable materials systems for triboelectric nanogenerator

open access: yesSusMat, Volume 4, Issue 6, December 2024.
To address environmental issues, the development of biodegradable material‐based TENGs is a sustainable trend. It can be concluded that natural materials and biodegradable synthetic materials can act as reliable tribomaterials in energy harvesting and self‐powered sensing. Sustainable material‐based TENGs can get rid of short‐comings as well as play an
