PROBLEMS OF HIGH-SPEED RAIL FLAW DETECTION

Kontrol'. Diagnostika, 2021
The main factors that reduce the quality of non-destructive testing of rails during high-speed scanning are considered. The most significant factors are the quality and volume of obtaining primary information about the condition of the monitored rails. It is shown that, at high-speed (up to 120 km/h) control, the compression of the defect location zone

Vibration Signal Analysis For Rail Flaw Detection

2019 CAA Symposium on Fault Detection, Supervision and Safety for Technical Processes (SAFEPROCESS), 2019
Rails are the foundation of rail transport, and any defects of the rails may directly affect the running state of the train or even lead to major safety incidents. However, the existing algorithms for rail crack detection are too expensive and difficult to perform on-line real-time monitoring.

Detect the rail track flaw by estimating the camera shaking

17th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2014
In this paper, the authors present a method of detecting the rail track bends and flaws. Different from the traditional machine-vision based methods which analyze the images of the rail surface, the authors estimate the shake of the camera - which is caused by the flaw or bend of the rail track - from the video used for railway environment surveillance.

On the Possibility of In-Process Magnetic Detection of Flaws in Rails

Russian Journal of Nondestructive Testing, 2019
A procedure has been developed to detect surface defects in the head and foot of a rail using a magnetic method involving thin-film magnetoresistive field sensors. The setup consists of a system for moving the rail in the longitudinal direction, a magnetizing solenoid, cartridges with field sensors for inspecting the rail head and foot, a DC ...

Application of FTP in flaw detection of rail web

Optik, 2014
Abstract In this paper, the author aims to use the Fourier transform profilometry, a three-dimensional non-contact optical measurement method, for recovering the rail profile and defects on the rail web. The deformed fringe pattern, caused by the uneven distribution of the surface's height when a Ronchi grating is projected onto the rail's surface ...

APPLICATION OF INCLINED LONGITUDINAL ULTRASONIC WAVES TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF RAIL FLAW DETECTION

Kontrol'. Diagnostika, 2021
The article is devoted to the question of rail ultrasonic testing confidence. At present there is a range of flaw orientation angles in within which the testing is absent and, therefore such flaws can be lost. To except this drawback the current sound testing scheme in flaw detector railcars is to be supplemented with inclined probes exciting ...

Detection and classification of rail track flaws using inertial and magnetometric sensors

2018 IEEE Conference of Russian Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EIConRus), 2018
The team of the Department of Laser Measuring and Navigation Systems of SPbGETU LETI proposed a method for diagnosing surface defects based on inertial measurements. This approach was later introduced into the AVIKON-03M flaw detector car produced by the JSC “Radioavionika”, which was equipped with a set of micromechanical inertial modules for this ...
