Case-Based reasoning in an ultrasonic rail-inspection system
1997Non-destructive testing (NDT) is often used for periodical inspection of infrastructure (e.g. railroads, pipelines). The inspection results in huge amounts of data which usually has to be analysed by an operator (or a team of operators) for occurrence of defect indications. This paper presents an example of use of case-based reasoning in interpretation

The Potential of Ultrasonic Surface Waves for Rail Inspection
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005Rail inspection using ultrasonic surface waves could provide a more reliable and efficient alternative to conventional ultrasound for the detection of surface cracks. This paper examines the basic properties of such surface waves at frequencies around 250 kHz.
