SIMULATION DYNAMIC PROCESSES OF RAIL VEHICLE AND RAIL WITH IRREGULARITIES [PDF]
The work presents research of defective railway wheel and rail dynamics and mathematical model of system “Railway vehicle wheel – track”. An assumption was made that the Rail R–65 and railway wheel with flats are with unevenness. The aim of this investigation is to identify the contact forces resulting from the wheel/rail contact at the various defects.

Contact Force Estimation in the Railway Vehicle Wheel-Rail Interface [PDF]
Increased patronage of railways in the UK in the past 20 years has put demands on rolling stock to operate at peak availability with reduced time available for maintenance.

Modelling blast loads in rail vehicles [PDF]
The open, accessible and crowded nature of urban mass transit networks has attracted previous attacks in London, Madrid and other cities, and it is very difficult to prevent an attacker entering while retaining normal operation of the system. The research presented here contributes to the modelling capability needed to apply a ‘passive safety’ approach

The Effect of Profiles on Wheel and Rail Damage [PDF]
This paper outlines the historical development of the wheel and rail profiles currently used on railway vehicles. It also presents the key damage mechanisms involved in wheel-rail contact and summarises the methods that have recently been developed by ...

A direct method for analyzing the vertical vehicle-structure interaction [PDF]
A new method for the dynamic analysis of the vertical vehicle-structure interaction is presented. The vehicle and structure systems can be discretized with various types of finite elements and may have any degree of complexity.

A direct method for analyzing the nonlinear vehicle–structure interaction [PDF]
This article presents an accurate, efficient and stable algorithm to analyze the nonlinear vertical vehicle-structure interaction. The governing equilibrium equations of the vehicle and structure are complemented with additional constraint equations ...

Dynanics of a vehicle-track coupling system at a rail joint
The dynamic behaviour at a rail joint is examined using a two-dimensional vehicle–track coupling model. The track system is described as a finite-length beam resting on a double-layer discrete viscous-elastic foundation.

Integration of crosswind forces into train dynamic modelling [PDF]
In this paper a new method is used to calculate unsteady wind loadings acting on a railway vehicle. The method takes input data from wind tunnel testing or from computational fluid dynamics simulations (one example of each is presented in this article ...
