Level crossings as bottlenecks

open access: yesVojnotehnički Glasnik, 2000
Level crossings represent bottlenecks from the aspect of vehicle capacity as one of basic parameters for traffic flow. From the railway traffic aspect they represent weak points on railway tracks due to rails exposure to the dynamic influence of road ...

The 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami: Cascading Impacts and Risks to Japan

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On July 29th, 2025, a large earthquake (Mw 8.8) occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This event caused a tsunami that reached Japan's Pacific coast, even though the source was far away. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis and discuss how they relate to the recurrence possibility and risk in Japan.

Mechanisms of Roadway Instability and Coupled Control Technology for Working Face Passing Through Fault Zones

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study mainly explores the instability characteristics of roadways near faults in the working face. Taking the 51104 transportation roadway of the 51104 working face in Shengxin Coal Mine as the main research object, through theoretical analysis, borehole inspection, numerical simulation and on‐site mine pressure observation, the instability ...

Effect of Ammonium Polyphosphate/Silicate Content on the Postfire Mechanics of Epoxy Glass‐Fiber Composites Using Facile Chocolate Bar‐Inspired Structures

open access: yesFire and Materials, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 329-346, April 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the postfire mechanical properties of epoxy glass‐fiber reinforced composites (EP GFRCs) using increasing concentrations of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and inorganic silicate (InSi) to modify the char and fire residue.

Evaluation method for crashworthiness of railway vehicles based on the correlation with the degree of passenger injury

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
The crash safety structure of the railway vehicles is effective as one of the safety measures against the train crews and the passengers in the event of a collision accident. The standards for crashworthiness of railway vehicles are defined in Europe and

Notable Impact of Paleotectonic Stress on Gold Mineralisation in the West Qinling Orogen

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
By applying fuzzy clustering and multiple inverse methods, we systematically processed the data of vein and fault slip in this ore deposit to reveal the transition of orogenic geological environment and paleotectonic stress field. Our research results show two different stress states: the northwest–southeast extensional stress field and the northeast ...

Industry Portfolio Volatility Connections and Industry Portfolio Returns

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper tracks dynamic connections that form among daily US industry portfolio return volatilities using a Bayesian time‐varying parameter VAR model. Market participants often focus on sectors to filter vast amounts of information, and this focus results in cross‐industry return predictability. We characterise connections that form over the
