The genes PH0137, PH0138, and PH0140 form a cluster in the genome of Pyrococcus horikoshii. The PH0140 gene encodes a transcription factor identified as a d‐amino acid‐responsive regulatory protein (DARP). In feast mode, l‐Ile‐bound DARP binds to the promoter and represses transcription of PH0137 and PH0138. In famine mode, DARP binds to d‐allo‐Ile and

On the Rainbow and Strong Rainbow Connection Numbers of the m-Splitting of the Complete Graph Kn
An edge-coloring of a graph is called rainbow if any two vertices are connected by a path consisting of edges of different colors. The least number of colors in such a coloring is called the rainbow connection number of G, denoted by rc(G).

PEG400 regulates Falcipain 2 activity through an allosteric mechanism
Falcipain‐2 can potentially be leveraged as a drug target due to its critical role as a haemoglobinase during the intra‐erythrocytic stage of Plasmodium falciparum. Here, we investigate the regulation of the proteolytic and haemoglobinase activity of falcipain‐2 in the presence of polyethylene glycol.

Large rainbow matchings in semi-strong edge-colorings of graphs
The lower bounds for the size of maximum rainbow matching in properly edge-colored graphs have been studied deeply during the last decades. An edge-coloring of a graph [Formula: see text] is called a strong edge-coloring if each path of length at most ...

Caffeic acid is a central metabolite in the fungal bioluminescence pathway. We identified and characterized caffeylpyruvate hydrolase from Neonothopanus gardneri (ngarCPH) and demonstrate its ability to hydrolyze fungal oxyluciferin into caffeic and pyruvic acids, confirming a complete and self‐sustained fungal bioluminescence cycle.

Xylan, the second most abundant plant cell wall polysaccharide, is degraded by β‐xylanases and β‐xylosidases. Here, we present the 2.65 Å cryo‐EM structure of Enterobacter cloacae β‐xylosidase (EcXyl43, GH43) and the 2.4 Å X‐ray structure of its inactive F507A mutant.
