An investigation on the effects of juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) monoculture and duo-culture farming in freshwater and seawater on growth performance [PDF]
The objective of this study was to compare growth performance and feed conversion ratios of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) juveniles in monoculture and duo-culture in freshwater and seawater under aquarium ...

Glucosensing capacity of rainbow trout telencephalon
To assess the hypothesis of glucosensing systems present in fish telencephalon, we first demonstrated in rainbow trout, by in situ hybridisation, the presence of glucokinase (GK). Then, we assessed the response of glucosensing markers in rainbow trout telencephalon 6 hours after i.c.v. treatment with glucose or 2‐deoxyglucose (inducing glucoprivation).

ABSTRACT Regulated rivers represent complex hydrological systems where groundwater–surface water interactions are governed by natural conditions and human interventions. This study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of groundwater–surface water exchanges in the Nechako River, British Columbia (Canada), using numerical simulations.

Evaluation of physiological aspects and molecular identification of Saprolegnia isolates from rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and Caspian trout (Salmo trutta caspius) eggs based on RAPD–PCR [PDF]
The genus of saprolegnia is one of the most important pathogenic aquatic fungi in farmed and wild fish. In the present study, fungal infected egss were collected from rainbow trout (Oncorhyncus mykiss) and Caspian trout (Salmo trutta caspius).

Experimental methemoglobinemia in rainbow trout [PDF]
In the experimental way methemoglobinemia was caused to occur in rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri Rich., 1836 by keeping the fishes for 11 weeks in Ca(NO3)2 and KNO3 solutions, the NO3 doses in which being 26.2 mg/l and 30.6 mg/l, respectively. At the same time measurements of the hepatic tissue respiration rate, histopathologic studies of fiver as well ...

Exploring Interactive Effects of Arsenic and Selenium Exposure on Larval Zebrafish (Danio rerio)
ABSTRACT Arsenic contamination in aquatic ecosystems is a major environmental concern. Selenium (Se) helps mitigate oxidative stress and hence could reduce the toxic effects of arsenic. However, Se can also be toxic at high concentrations. Given that these metalloids commonly co‐occur in the environment, there is a pressing need for further research ...
