Infiltration Process of Rainfall with Constant Intensity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
In order to disclose the infiltration process of rainfall into the ground, the infiltration phenomenon is investigated theoretically and experimentally under the conditions that the homogeneous sand layer is bounded at its lower boundary and initially ...

The challenges of rehabilitating denuded patches of a semi-arid environment in Kenya

open access: yes, 2010
Land degradation is a major problem in the semi-arid environments of Sub-Saharan Africa. Fighting land degradation is essential to ensure the sustainable and long-term productivity of the habited semiarid lands.

Evaluating Erosional Stability of Reconstructed Mine Landscapes Using Landform Evolution Models: Parameterisation and Decadal‐Scale Erosion Assessment

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ensuring the long‐term erosional stability of post‐mining landforms remains a major challenge in open‐pit mining. Reconstructed landscapes must support the agreed post‐mining land use, such as cattle grazing in the Hunter region of southeastern Australia, requiring stable pasture and minimal soil loss.

Back Analysis of Rainfall-Induced Landslide in Cimanggung District of Sumedang Regency in West Java Using Deterministic and Probabilistic Analyses

open access: yesGeosciences
Rainfall-induced landslides are widespread in Indonesia, particularly in West Java, where volcanic residual soils are typically stable but may become unstable during heavy rainfall. This study aims to back analyze the geotechnical factors contributing to

Corrosion‐Protection of T122 Steel Using g‐C3N5‐Embedded Epoxy Coatings

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Study evaluates g‐C3N5 (CN) reinforced epoxy coatings on T122 steel in NaCl and H2SO4. Electrochemical tests revealed that 2% loading maximizes corrosion resistance by blocking pores and limiting ion diffusion, increasing Rp and Rn. Optimized CN content enhances epoxy coating performance overall system durability material. ABSTRACT Corrosion‐protection

Rainfall infiltration model considering spatial variability of multiple layers in transition layer and its application in slope stability analysis

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
Establishing a reasonable rainfall infiltration model is an important prerequisite for revealing the rainfall-induced slope failure mechanism and disaster prevention and control. The traditional Green-Ampt model does not consider the distribution of soil

Spatial Variability of Permafrost and Active Layer Thickness in a Forested Hillslope of the Taiga Shield

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Under continued climate warming, understanding present‐day permafrost distribution and the controls on ground thaw are critical for predicting permafrost thaw trajectories and associated implications. This study presents a high‐resolution investigation of permafrost extent and active layer thickness (ALT) across a coniferous forested hillslope

“Cold Tropics”: Permafrost Existence and Thickness on Eastern Nevado Coropuna (Southern Peruvian Andes) Revealed by Ground‐Penetrating Radar and Geoelectrical Soundings

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The existence of permafrost was explored at tropical latitude on Nevado Coropuna (southern Peruvian Andes) using a combination of ground‐penetrating radar (GPR) and vertical electrical sounding (VES) in order to strengthen the mutual validation of data processing and interpretation.
