A Method for Identifying Rainfall‐Runoff Events at Sub‐Hourly Time Scales: Applications for Nature‐Based Solutions and Water Resources

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding how changes in catchment conditions affect ecohydrology in response to rainfall‐runoff events is crucial when developing informed strategies to enhance flow resilience, restore natural habitats, interpret water quality data or reduce flood risk.

Assessment of soil infiltration capacity by using portable rainfall simulator

open access: yes, 2015
Under study was the possible assessment of soil infiltration capacity by using a portable rainfall simulator to irrigate a small area and avoid the development of rill erosion.

Study on rainfall infiltration characteristics and instability mechanism of a lateritic soil landslide in Yunnan, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
IntroductionThe engineering geological characteristics of Yunnan’s lateritic soil are quite unique, making it prone to shallow group landslides under rainfall conditions.

Riparian Failure: Damming and Flow Stabilization Exclude Cottonwood Colonization Along a Dryland River

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Marias River flows from Glacier National Park through northcentral Montana, and into the Missouri River. Annual flows gradually declined from 1902 to 2024 (~3.2%/decade) and the 1952 Tiber Dam and Lake Elwell reservoir were operated to attenuate peak flows and stabilize downstream flows year‐round.

Seal Development and Infiltration as Affected by Rainfall Kinetic Energy

open access: yes, 1986
The infiltration of water into soil has been studied for more than 50 years. Much of the effort has concentrated on obtaining infiltration rate measurements for different soils and on developing equations which describe the resulting data.

Assessment of spatiotemporal trends in groundwater depth and salinity through GIS‐based geostatistical analysis: The case of Aksu Irrigation System in Antalya, Türkiye

open access: yesRiver, EarlyView.
The study revealed that while groundwater depth trends were generally risk‐free, electrical conductivity showed localized risks in 38% of the Aksu Irrigation System. Overall, 25% of the area was classified as risky. The integrated GIS‐based approach provides a rapid, objective, and cost‐effective tool for precision water management. Abstract Continuous

Infiltration under a rainfall simulator

open access: yes
A large rainfall simulator was used to study infiltration on six soil plots. Water content and capillary pressure were measured during steady rainfall at rates less than required to produce runoff.

Impact of Sewershed Characteristics on Rainfall Derived Inflow and Infiltration

open access: yes, 2020
Cities rely on sewer systems to transport wastewater and stormwater, but sometimes these systems are overwhelmed, and their capacity is exceeded due to excess water in the system from rainfall derived inflow and infiltration.

Soil erosion responses to climate change in a tropical monsoon‐dominated river basin ‐ A geospatial perspective

open access: yesRiver, EarlyView.
Climate change is projected to intensify soil erosion in the Chalakkudy River Basin, with bare lands and steep uplands emerging as the most vulnerable hotspots under high‐emission scenarios. Forested areas showed greater resistance to soil erosion, highlighting the importance of targeted soil conservation for sustainable watershed management in ...
