Effects of rainfall patterns on runoff and rainfall-induced erosion
International Journal of Sediment Research, 2019Abstract Rainfall-induced erosion involves the detachment of soil particles by raindrop impact and their transport by the combined action of the shallow surface runoff and raindrop impact. Although temporal variation in rainfall intensity (pattern) during natural rainstorms is a common phenomenon, the available information is inadequate to understand

Changing rainfall patterns in Western Sudan
Journal of Climatology, 1988AbstractRainfall series to 1986 have been examined for North Darfur and North Kordofan. Annual and monthly series are presented and analysed. Relatively dry conditions have persisted in this region since 1966 due mainly to a decline in rainfall during July, August and September, the critical months for the annual agricultural cycle.

Rainfall Trend Patterns in South Africa
South African Geographical Journal, 1970Abstract Linear regression analysis reveals distinctive positive and negative rainfall trend areas in South Africa. While some parts of the country have suffered a decrease in rainfall, others have experienced an increase.

AbstractThis analysis suggests substantial coherence of rainfall data from Northern Europe, in a region from England to eastern Germany. Within this entire area, there appears to be a long‐term fluctuation in rainfall with a period of about 16 years. Further south, from Switzerland into northern Italy, a different long‐term fluctuation of about 20‐22 ...

Study on Rainfall Patterns of Beijing
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Climate and precipitation of city has undergone great changes, waterlogging and drought events caused by extreme weather events is seriously affecting the normal operation of the city and people's production and life. This paper analyzes the rainfall patterns of Beijing in recent years on the basis of rainfall data nearly 68 years, including changes of

AbstractIndian rainfall figures from World Weather Records have been subjected to filter analysis and the results suggest substantial coherence of data for central and north‐west India. The analysis indicates that there is a long‐term fluctuation in rainfall of period c. 22 years—possibly linked to the double sunspot cycle—and another of period c.

Analysis of Hawaiian diurnal rainfall patterns
Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 2004We analyzed hourly precipitation data over the period 1965–1998 for 133 stations located throughout the Hawaiian Islands and found distinctive diurnal cycles in the amount and frequency of the rainfall. The diurnal signals were generally strongest on the island of Hawaii and more pronounced in the summer than in the winter.

Rainfall patterns in the eastern United States
Climatic Change, 1982Rainfall figures from World Weather Records, for towns west of the Mississippi in the United States, have been subjected to filter analysis. Four filters have been used, and the rainfall patterns obtained suggest substantial coherence of the data throughout much of the entire area.

Rainfall Temporal Patterns for Design Floods
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1975The rainfalls used in the practical estimation of design floods are generally based on frequency-duration relationships derived from recorded intense burst of rainfall of various durations rather than from complete storms. These recorded intense bursts are therefore used in the derivation of the temporal patterns.

Dimensionless Rainfall Patterns for South Carolina
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2007This note presents methodologies for developing dimensionless design rainfall patterns for the state of South Carolina based on the real rainfall events as an alternative to the presently used Soil Conservation Service (SCS) curves that are based on rainfall bursts.
