Porosity Engineering of MXene Architectures: Toward High‐Performance Aqueous Electrochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review systematically summarizes recent advances in porosity engineering of MXenes, with a focused discussion on their structure‐governed energy storage properties. A critical analysis of structure–property relationships is presented across alkali‐ion batteries, multivalent‐ion batteries, and supercapacitors.

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

A simple laser system for atom interferometry

open access: yes, 2014
We present here a simple laser system for a laser cooled atom interferometer, where all functions (laser cooling, interferometry and detection) are realized using only two extended cavity laser diodes, amplified by a common tapered amplifier.

Localized Temperature Monitoring in Mouse Brain during Light Delivery via a Non‐Planar Tapered Fiber‐Integrated µRTD Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Theory of control of spin/photon interface for quantum networks

open access: yes, 2004
A cavity coupling a charged nanodot and a fiber can act as a quantum interface, through which a stationary spin qubit and a flying photon qubit can be inter-converted via cavity-assisted Raman process.

Reactive Laser Additive Manufacturing of Hierarchically Structured Aerogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive laser additive manufacturing transforms printing into a chemically active synthesis step. Salt‐enabled transient reaction environments drive in situ formation of hierarchically structured graphitic aerogels with microtubular and nanoscale features in seconds.

A 1.8 kW high power all-fiber Raman oscillator

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
Fiber Bragg grating-based Raman oscillators are capable of achieving targeted frequency conversion and brightness enhancement through the provision of gain via stimulated Raman scattering across a broad gain spectrum.

Tunable mid-infrared Raman soliton generation from 1.96 to 2.82 μm in an all-solid fluorotellurite fiber

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We demonstrate tunable mid-infrared (MIR) Raman soliton generation in an all-solid fluorotellurite fiber pumped by a 1960 nm femtosecond fiber laser. All-solid fluorotellurite fibers are fabricated by using a rod-in-tube method.

Raman spectra of powders of aromatic compounds [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
A method for fiber-optic recording of Raman spectra has been developed based on the use of fiber-optic cells, photon traps, a copper vapor laser, a small-sized spectrometer, and a data processing system.
