Single-mode Raman fiber laser based on a multimode fiber

Optics Letters, 2004
Single-mode operation of a Raman fiber laser based on a multimode fiber has been demonstrated for what is to our knowledge the first time. Single-mode operation was achieved through the beam cleanup effect of stimulated Raman scattering in multimode fibers.

Raman fiber lasers

Journal of Optics, 2017
High-power fiber lasers have seen tremendous development in the last decade, with output powers exceeding multiple kilowatts from a single fiber. Ytterbium has been at the forefront as the primary rare-earth-doped gain medium owing to its inherent material advantages.

Spectral broadening in Raman fiber lasers

Optics Letters, 2006
We present an analytical theory based on wave kinetic equations that describes a Raman fiber laser (RFL) generation spectrum. It is shown both theoretically and experimentally that the quasi-degenerate four-wave mixing between different longitudinal modes is the main broadening mechanism in the one-stage RFL at high powers.

Distributed feedback fiber Raman laser

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2001
We analyze the properties of a distributed feedback fiber laser based on Raman amplification. Such a laser is quite practical and has a number of novel properties. We model numerically the laser dynamics, analyze in detail the role of the nonlinear refractive index of the fiber and argue on the optimal design parameters.
