Experimental analysis of emission linewidth narrowing in a pulsed KGd(WO4)2 Raman laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The linewidth of a KGd(WO4)2 (KGW) intracavity pumped Raman laser is analyzed experimentally for different configurations of the Raman and pump laser resonators: with narrow and broadband pump emission profiles, with and without linewidth narrowing ...

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Double diffraction in an atomic gravimeter

open access: yes, 2009
We demonstrate the realization of a new scheme for cold atom gravimetry based on the use of double diffraction beamsplitters recently demonstrated in \cite{Leveque}, where the use of two retro-reflected Raman beams allows symmetric diffraction in $\pm ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Achieving ground-state polar molecular condensates by chainwise atom-molecule adiabatic passage

open access: yes, 2010
We generalize the idea of chainwise stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) [Kuznetsova \textit{et al.} Phys. Rev. A \textbf{78}, 021402(R) (2008)] to a photoassociation-based chainwise atom-molecule system, with the goal of directly converting two ...

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Microscopic structure differences in CZTSe quaternary alloys prepared by different techniques revealed by spatially-resolved laser-induced-modification Raman spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2017
While producing comparable efficiencies and showing similar properties when probed by conventional techniques, such as Raman, photoluminescence and X-ray diffraction, two thin film solar cell materials with complex structures, such as quaternary compound
