Extended Fixation for Paprosky Type III Acetabular Defects in Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty with a Minimum Follow‐Up of 2 Years

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 15, Issue 1, Page 205-213, January 2023., 2023
We proposed the concept of “iliac extended fixation,” and found that EIEF (extracavitary iliac extended fixation) and IIEF (intracavitary iliac extended fixation) with porous metal augments and cementless cups are effective in reconstructing severe superior acetabular bone defects, with promising short‐term clinical and radiographic outcome.

Diagnosis and Prevalence (1975–2010) of Sudden Death due to Atlantoaxial Subluxation in Cervical Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Literature Review

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a chronic inflammatory disease primarily affecting synovial joints and tendons, can potentially impact various organs within the body. One notable complication associated with RA is upper cervical spine instability, medically termed atlantoaxial subluxation (AAS).

Implication of Changes in the Imaging Measurements after Mechanically Aligned Total Knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 14, Issue 12, Page 3322-3329, December 2022., 2022
The tibia is simplified as a two‐dimensional graph, The lower extremities were in an unnatural state within one year after TKA. The changes of the lower extremities force line were actually the common results of the gradual adaptation of the lower extremities to TKA and the lateral swing of the extremities 3° after surgery.

Comparison of Tibial Tubercle Landmark Technique and Range of Motion Technique in Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 14, Issue 12, Page 3159-3170, December 2022., 2022
Postoperative CT scans shows component axis and three reference lines. Objective There is not a standard for rotational alignment of the tibial component in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). For now, the most commonly methods are tibial‐tubercle ‐landmark technique (TTL) and range‐of‐motion technique (ROM).

Impact of L-carnitine and selenium treatment on testicular apoptosis in rats exposed to 2.45 GHz microwave energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objective: It has been suggested that electromagnetic radiation (EMR) by wireless devices (2.45 GHz) induces testicular apoptosis. We investigated if supplemental selenium (Se) and L-carnitine may reduce this adverse effect.

Impaction Bone Grafting Combined with Titanium Mesh for Acetabular Bone Defects Reconstruction in Total Hip Arthroplasty Revision: A Retrospective and Mini‐Review Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 902-910, May 2022., 2022
We investigate the application of impaction bone grafting (IBG) combined with titanium mesh for acetabular bone defects reconstruction in revision total hip arthroplasty (THA), and follow up the clinical outcomes and imaging findings. Post‐revision radiographs show the measurement of horizontal/vertical value of the acetabular implant, acetabulum ...

Arthroscopic Reduction of a Missed/Neglected Anterior Shoulder Dislocation and Concomitant Repair of the Rotator Cuff Tendon

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page e441-e448, March 2022., 2022
Abstract Patients with neglected/missed anterior shoulder dislocation and an associated rotator cuff tear present a dilemma for the correct surgical approach that will facilitate a reduction of the dislocation and repair of the rotator cuff tear. This report describes an arthroscopic technique using standard arthroscopic portals to reduce neglected (3 ...
