Mechanisms underlying microglial colonization of developing neural retina in zebrafish

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Microglia are brain-resident macrophages that function as the first line of defense in brain. Embryonic microglial precursors originate in peripheral mesoderm and migrate into the brain during development.

Does lucency equate to revision? A five‐year retrospective review of Attune and Triathlon total knee arthroplasty

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 31, Issue 11, Page 4773-4781, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Purpose The Attune® total knee arthroplasty system was introduced in 2013 to address lingering issues of patient dissatisfaction. However, recent literature reports concerns of early tibial tray debonding. The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of radiolucent lines, survivorship and patient reported outcome‐measures between the ...

A Dynamic Change of Microglial States Occurs During the Transition From Photoreceptor Degeneration to Regeneration in Zebrafish pde6c Mutants. [PDF]

open access: yesGlia
Zebrafish pde6c mutants undergo photoreceptor degeneration from 5 dpf, but rods regenerate from 4 wpf. scRNA‐seq of retinal microglia reveals dynamic change of states between 5 dpf and 4 wpf. Two states emerge specifically during regeneration. ABSTRACT Microglia, brain‐resident immune cells, maintain brain homeostasis.

Effectiveness and Accuracy of a Patient‐Specific Instrumentation System for Total Hip Arthroplasty

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 15, Issue 3, Page 878-887, March 2023., 2023
(A) Self‐designed THA PSI system. (B) Simulated THA using PSI system in model bone. Objective Traditional total hip arthroplasty (THA) is often performed by visual inspection due to the lack of reliable reference, which results in inappropriate position of prosthesis and poor outcomes.

Short-Term Clinical Outcomes of a Manual “Inside-Out” Algorithm for Correcting Ranawat Grade II and III Valgus Deformity in Total Knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesAdvances in Orthopedics
Background Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in the fixed valgus knee is technically demanding due to lateral soft‐tissue contractures and the risk of peroneal nerve injury. This study evaluates the clinical and radiographic outcomes of a manual “inside‐out” soft‐tissue balancing algorithm for Ranawat Grade II and III valgus deformities.

Extended Fixation for Paprosky Type III Acetabular Defects in Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty with a Minimum Follow‐Up of 2 Years

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 15, Issue 1, Page 205-213, January 2023., 2023
We proposed the concept of “iliac extended fixation,” and found that EIEF (extracavitary iliac extended fixation) and IIEF (intracavitary iliac extended fixation) with porous metal augments and cementless cups are effective in reconstructing severe superior acetabular bone defects, with promising short‐term clinical and radiographic outcome.
