Some Results on Effective Randomness
Theory of Computing Systems, 2004We investigate the characterizations of effective randomness in terms of Martin-Lof covers and martingales. First, we address a question of Ambos-Spies and Kucera [1], who asked for a characterization of computable randomness in terms of tests.

Effect of randomness on the Mott state
Physical Review Letters, 1993Competition between Mott and Anderson metal-insulator transitions is studied in a one dimensional spinless fermion system of 200 sites. Although the long range charge density wave (CDW) order and gap of the Mott phase are destroyed by weak randomness, the elementary excitations are still solitons based on the local CDW order.

On the effectiveness of address-space randomization
Proceedings of the 11th ACM conference on Computer and communications security, 2004Address-space randomization is a technique used to fortify systems against buffer overflow attacks. The idea is to introduce artificial diversity by randomizing the memory location of certain system components. This mechanism is available for both Linux (via PaX ASLR) and OpenBSD.

The Effects of Free Will on Randomness Expansion
2013One of the assumptions of Bell’s Theorem is the existence of experimental free will, meaning that measurement settings can be chosen perfectly at random. With the advent of quantum information, the violation of a Bell inequality constitutes evidence of the lack of an eavesdropper in cryptographic scenarios such as key distribution and randomness ...

What exactly is random about random effects?
1997The central question of the paper is: When should stimuli be treated as random effects in random- or mixed-effects ANOVA? The conceptual starting point is the view of significance testing in experimental research as following the logic of randomization tests.
