Random Item Effects Models

2010
Cluster-speci_c item e_ects parameters are introduced that are assumed to vary over clusters of respondents. The modeling of cluster-speci_c item parameters relaxes the assumptions of measurement invariance. Item characteristic di_erences are simply allowed, and it is not necessary to classify items as being invariant or noninvariant.

Examples. Random-effects models

1994
Abstract In this chapter random-effects methods are illustrated for the five datasets introduced in Section 2.2. The analyses are incomplete and they highlight the need for analysis with more general patterns of between-cluster variation.
