The Influence of Random Element Displacement on DOA Estimates Obtained with (Khatri–Rao-)Root-MUSIC [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Although a wide range of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms has been described for a diverse range of array configurations, no specific stochastic analysis framework has been established to assess the probability density function of the ...

Calibrating Dependence Between Random Elements [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Probability, 2020
Attempts to quantify dependence between random elements X and Y via maximal correlation go back to Gebelein (1941) and R nyi (1959). After summarizing properties (including some new) of the R nyi measure of dependence, a calibrated scale of dependence is introduced. It is based on the ``complexity`` of approximating functions of X by functions of Y.

Data Streams as Random Permutations: the Distinct Element Problem [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2012
In this paper, we show that data streams can sometimes usefully be studied as random permutations. This simple observation allows a wealth of classical and recent results from combinatorics to be recycled, with minimal effort, as estimators for various ...

Dim and Small Target Detection Based on Gaussian Markov Random Field Motion Direction Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
To improve the detection of dim and small targets in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR < 3dB) scenarios, energy accumulation along the estimated direction by estimating the direction of the target’s motion at different moments is a proven ...

Application of the soil parameter random field in the 3D random finite element analysis of Guanyinyan composite dam

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Due to the inhomogeneous of dam materials, effect of the compaction environment and experimental data errors, the soil properties of the Guanyinyan composite dam present obvious spatial variability, resulting in the occurrence of obvious discordant ...

Dataset for random uniform distributions of 2D circles and 3D spheres

open access: yesData in Brief, 2022
This dataset contains random uniform distributions for a large number of 2D and 3D balls, along with the description files. It provides the possibility for fast pick up of random, but repeatable, sets of smaller samples, with the guaranteed statistical ...

Research on random propagation method of hydraulic fracture based on zero-thickness cohesive element

open access: yesRock and Soil Mechanics, 2021
In order to effectively simulate the process of random propagation of hydraulic fractures in fractured shale reservoirs, a new method of random propagation of hydraulic fractures based on the finite element mesh embedded with zero-thickness cohesive ...
