Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.

Quantum random numbers from a fiber-optic photon-pair source [PDF]
© 2019 Astro Ltd. We demonstrate a fiber-optic source of random numbers in which random-number generation (RNG) is implemented via an inherently quantum process-detection of correlated photon pairs produced by spontaneous four-wave mixing (FWM) inside an

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Superbunched random fiber laser
Photon superbunching, distinguished by second-order coherence values far exceeding the Gaussian thermal limit, represents a highly desirable resource for quantum optics and correlation-based imaging technologies. However, existing approaches typically rely on fragile experimental platforms, inefficient nonlinear conversion processes, or mechanically ...

This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add
