Random distributed feedback fiber laser of ultimate efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate a random fiber laser of ultimate efficiency. More than 2 Watts are generated from 0.5W of pump excess over the generation threshold.

Bioorthogonal Photoactivation of 2‐Nitrobenzyl Caged Doxorubicin Anticancer Prodrugs on Gold Nanostars

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.

Fiber-coupling efficiency of a Gaussian-beam in anisotropic non-Kolmogorov turbulence in the presence of random angular jitter

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
Increasing experimental evidence and theoretical results verify that the non-Kolmogorov property and anisotropy are both exhibited in the atmospheric turbulence.

Quantum random numbers from a fiber-optic photon-pair source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
© 2019 Astro Ltd. We demonstrate a fiber-optic source of random numbers in which random-number generation (RNG) is implemented via an inherently quantum process-detection of correlated photon pairs produced by spontaneous four-wave mixing (FWM) inside an

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Superbunched random fiber laser

open access: yes
Photon superbunching, distinguished by second-order coherence values far exceeding the Gaussian thermal limit, represents a highly desirable resource for quantum optics and correlation-based imaging technologies. However, existing approaches typically rely on fragile experimental platforms, inefficient nonlinear conversion processes, or mechanically ...

Watt-level green random laser at 532 nm by SHG of a Yb-doped fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceWe have developed a Watt-level random laser at 532 nm. The laser is based on a 1064 nm random distributed ytterbium-gain assisted fiber laser seed with a 0.35 nm line-width 900mW polarized output power.

Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

Dental Imaging With Near-Infrared Transillumination Using Random Fiber Laser

open access: yesPhotonic Sensors, 2020
Contrary to the conventional detection method like radiography, the near infrared light source has been demonstrated to be suitable for dental imaging due to different reflectivity among enamel, dentin, and caries lesion.
