Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

BERT has a Mouth, and It Must Speak: BERT as a Markov Random Field Language Model
Proceedings of the Workshop on Methods for Optimizing and Evaluating Neural Language Generation, 2019We show that BERT (Devlin et al., 2018) is a Markov random field language model. This formulation gives way to a natural procedure to sample sentences from BERT.

There is a famous formula called Lévy's stochastic infinitesimal equation for a stochastic process X(t) expressed in the form [Formula: see text] We propose a generalization of this equation for a random field X(C) indexed by a contour C. Assume that the X(C) is homogeneous in a white noise x, say of degree n, we can then appeal to the classical ...

Random field theory has been increasingly used in probabilistic geotechnical analyses over the past few decades, where a random field generator with random field parameters is needed to simulate random field samples (RFSs) of interest.

Markov random fields and gibbs random fields
Israel Journal of Mathematics, 1973Spitzer has shown that every Markov random field (MRF) is a Gibbs random field (GRF) and vice versa when (i) both are translation invariant, (ii) the MRF is of first order, and (iii) the GRF is defined by a binary, nearest neighbor potential. In both cases, the field (iv) is defined onZ v, and (v) at anyxeZv, takes on one of two states.

Absence of Replica Symmetry Breaking in the Random Field Ising Model
Communications in Mathematical Physics, 2014It is shown that replica symmetry is not broken in the random field Ising model in any dimension, at any temperature and field strength, except possibly at a measure-zero set of exceptional temperatures and field strengths.

Hidden Conditional Random Fields
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2007We present a discriminative latent variable model for classification problems in structured domains where inputs can be represented by a graph of local observations. A hidden-state Conditional Random Field framework learns a set of latent variables conditioned on local features. Observations need not be independent and may overlap in space and time.
