Model-Based and Model-Free Point Prediction Algorithms for Locally Stationary Random Fields
The Model-Free Prediction Principle has been successfully applied to general regression problems, as well as problems involving stationary and locally stationary time series.

On Pfaffian random point fields
We study Pfaffian random point fields by using the Moore-Dyson quaternion determinants. First, we give sufficient conditions that ensure that a self-dual quaternion kernel defines a valid random point field, and then we prove a CLT for Pfaffian point ...

Skew-Gaussian random fields [PDF]
Skewness is often present in a wide range of spatial prediction problems, and modeling it in the spatial context remains a challenging problem. In this study a skew-Gaussian random field is considered. The skew-Gaussian random field is constructed by using the multivariate closed skew-normal distribution, which is a generalization of the traditional ...

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

The present work is concerned with the effect of soil spatial variability on estimating the ultimate soil resistance of floating axially loaded piles from point measurements of soil properties along the pile. The ultimate limit state is considered.

Simulation of infinitely divisible random fields
Two methods to approximate infinitely divisible random fields are presented. The methods are based on approximating the kernel function in the spectral representation of such fields, leading to numerical integration of the respective integrals.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Fast simulation of Gaussian random fields
Fast Fourier transforms are used to develop algorithms for the fast generation of correlated Gaussian random fields on d-dimensional rectangular regions.

Representation of Gaussian Isotropic Spin Random Fields [PDF]
We develop a technique for the construction of random fields on algebraic structures. We deal with two general situations: random fields on homogeneous spaces of a compact group and in the spin-line bundles of the 2-sphere.
