Linear sum codes for random access memories [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Computers, 1988
Linear sum codes (LSCs) form a class of error control codes designed to provide on-chip error correction to semiconductor random access memories (RAMs). They use the natural addressing scheme found on RAMs to form and access codewords with a minimum of overhead.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

On Linear Coding over Finite Rings and Applications to Computing

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
This paper presents a coding theorem for linear coding over finite rings, in the setting of the Slepian–Wolf source coding problem. This theorem covers corresponding achievability theorems of Elias (IRE Conv. Rec. 1955, 3, 37–46) and Csiszár (IEEE Trans.

Decoding and File Transfer Delay Balancing in Network Coding Broadcast

open access: yes, 2016
Network Coding is a packet encoding technique which has recently been shown to improve network performance (by reducing delays and increasing throughput) in broadcast and multicast communications.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

PACE: Redundancy Engineering in RLNC for Low-Latency Communication

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Random linear network coding (RLNC) is attractive for data transfer as well as data storage and retrieval in complex and unreliable settings. The existing systematic RLNC approach first sends all source symbols in a generation without encoding followed ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Johnson type bounds for mixed dimension subspace codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Subspace codes, i.e., sets of subspaces of $\mathbb{F}_q^v$, are applied in random linear network coding. Here we give improved upper bounds for their cardinalities based on the Johnson bound for constant dimension codes.Comment: 16 pages, typos ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

SpaRec: Sparse Systematic RLNC Recoding in Multi-Hop Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Sparse Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) reduces the computational complexity of the RLNC decoding through a low density of the non-zero coding coefficients, which can be achieved through sending uncoded (systematic) packets.
