Proof methods in random matrix theory

open access: yesProbability Surveys, 2023
In this survey article, we give an introduction to two methods of proof in random matrix theory: The method of moments and the Stieltjes transform method. We thoroughly develop these methods and apply them to show both the semicircle law and the Marchenko-Pastur law for random matrices with independent entries.

Unitary matrix integral for two-color QCD and the GSE-GUE crossover in random matrix theory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2021
We analytically evaluate a unitary matrix integral which appears in the low-energy limit of two-color QCD at finite chemical potential. The result is expressed as a pfaffian. We illustrate its application to the GSE-GUE crossover in random matrix theory.

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Noninteracting fermions in a trap and random matrix theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2018
We review recent advances in the theory of trapped fermions using techniques borrowed from random matrix theory (RMT) and, more generally, from the theory of determinantal point processes.

Dynamical quantum phase transitions from random matrix theory [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
We uncover a novel dynamical quantum phase transition, using random matrix theory and its associated notion of planar limit. We study it for the isotropic XY Heisenberg spin chain.

Dynamical phases in a ``multifractal'' Rosenzweig-Porter model

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2021
We consider the static and the dynamic phases in a Rosenzweig-Porter (RP) random matrix ensemble with a distribution of off-diagonal matrix elements of the form of the large-deviation ansatz.

Random Matrix Theory at Nonzero µ andT [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 2007
We review applications of random matrix theory to QCD at nonzero temperature and chemical potential. The chiral phase transition of QCD and QCD-like theories is discussed in terms of eigenvalues of the Dirac operator. We show that for QCD at $ \ne 0$, which has a sign problem, the discontinuity in the chiral condensate is due to an alternative to the ...

Directed random geometric graphs: structural and spectral properties

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity, 2022
In this work we analyze structural and spectral properties of a model of directed random geometric graphs: given n vertices uniformly and independently distributed on the unit square, a directed edge is set between two vertices if their distance is ...
