Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Separated Random Number Generators for Virtual Machines

open access: yes, 2017
High quality random numbers are essential for secure servers, alas virtual machines suffer from low entropy. The generation of hard to predict random numbers is a crucial problem. Moreover, existing solutions can pose severe security risks, e.g.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Permutation and sampling with maximum length CA for pseudorandom number generation

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we study the effect of dynamic permutation and sampling on the randomness quality of sequences generated by cellular automata (CA). Dynamic permutation and sampling have not been explored in previous CA work and a suitable implementation ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Parallel Random Number Generation on KSR1

open access: yes, 1993
In this note, parallel random number generation on the KSR1 parallel computer is discussed. The random number generators available for the KSR1 are sketched, and performance measurements done at the KSR1-32 system in Mannheim are presented, focusing on ...
