Random number generator developed in reconfigurable logic

open access: yes, 2003
True random numbers are key to modern cryptography, yet are extremely difficult to generate. Most hardware random number generators are implemented on custom platforms, which are expensive to develop and manufacturer.

Adsorption-desorption based random number generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Data tracking and hacking is especially dangerous in modern defence forces where classified data transmission must envolve cryptographic methods for secure and reliable data coding.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Comparative Analysis of Efficiency of Fibonacci Random Number Generator Algorithm and Gaussian Random Number Generator Algorithm in a Cryptographic System.

open access: yes, 2013
Random Numbers determine the security level of Cryptographic Applications as they are used to generate padding schemes in the encryption and decryption process as well as used to generate cryptographic keys. The more randomness in the numbers a generator

SPICE Simulation of a Provably Secure True Random Number Generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In their paper A Provably Secure True Random Number Generator with Built-in Tolerance to Active Attacks , B. Sunar, W. Martin, and D. Stinson propose a design for a true random number generator.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

An integrable low cost hardware random number generator

open access: yes, 2005
A hardware random number generator is different from a pseudo-random number generator; a pseudo-random number generator approximates the assumed behavior of a real hardware random number generator. Simple pseudo random number generators suffices for most

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...
