Touching random surfaces and Liouville gravity [PDF]
Large $N$ matrix models modified by terms of the form $ g(\TrΦ^n)^2$ generate random surfaces which touch at isolated points. Matrix model results indicate that, as $g$ is increased to a special value $g_t$, the string susceptibility exponent suddenly jumps from its conventional value $γ$ to ${γ\overγ-1}$.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

RENORMALIZATION OF COUPLINGS IN EMBEDDED RANDOM SURFACES
We study the dressing of operators and flows of corresponding couplings in models of embedded random surfaces. We show that these dressings can be obtained by applying the methods of David and Distler and Kawai. We consider two extreme limits. In the first limit the string tension is large and the dynamics is dominated by the Nambu-Goto term.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Estimating the intercept in an orthogonally blocked experiment when the block effects are random. [PDF]
: For an orthogonally blocked experiment, Khuri (1992) has shown that the ordinary least squares estimator and the generalized least squares estimator of the factor effects in a response surface model with random block effects coincide.

Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

A Framework for Satellite Image Classification in the Context of Crisis Mapping Using Markov Random Fields [PDF]
In this contribution a framework for classification of high resolution optical satellite images in the context of crisis mapping is proposed and evaluated. Multiscale image information (data model) as well as hierarchical and spatial context information (

Modelling Geometric Deviations in Additive Manufacturing of a Cylindrical Surface
This work presents, in a first part, a state of the art on geometric deviation modelling in additive manufacturing. It then proposes a geometric deviation modelling methodology based on part discretization, considering the systematic and random ...
