Steady state and mean recurrence time for random walks on stochastic temporal networks

open access: yes, 2015
Random walks are basic diffusion processes on networks and have applications in, for example, searching, navigation, ranking, and community detection. Recent recognition of the importance of temporal aspects on networks spurred studies of random walks on

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

An easy proof of Polya's theorem on random walks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We present an easy proof of Polya's theorem on random walks: with the probability one a random walk on the two-dimensional lattice returns to the starting point.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

The law of the iterated logarithm for a class of transient random walk in random environment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
There is a condition (T'), such that it is the necessary condition that a random walk in random environment is ballistic. Under this condition, we show the law of the iterated logarithm for a random walk in random environment.

Random walks in a random environment

open access: yesProceedings Mathematical Sciences, 2004
Random walks as well as diffusions in random media are considered. Methods are developed that allow one to establish large deviation results for both the `quenched' and the `averaged' case.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

The Global Mean First-Passage Time for Degree-Dependent Random Walks in a Class of Fractal Scale-Free Trees

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Fractal scale-free structures are widely observed across a range of natural and synthetic systems, such as biological networks, internet architectures, and social networks, providing broad applications in the management of complex systems and the ...
