Analysis methods for covariate-constrained cluster randomized trials with time-to-event outcomes

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology
Background Cluster randomized trials, which often enroll a small number of clusters, can benefit from constrained randomization, selecting a final randomization scheme from a set of known, balanced randomizations.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Randomization in clinical trials with small sample sizes using group sequential designs.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundGroup sequential designs, which allow early stopping for efficacy or futility, may benefit from balanced sample sizes at interim and final analyses. This requirement for balance limits the choice of admissible randomization procedures.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Channeling Fisher: Randomization Tests and the Statistical Insignificance of Seemingly Significant Experimental Results*

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of Economics, 2018
I follow R. A. Fisher'sThe Design of Experiments (1935), using randomization statistical inference to test the null hypothesis of no treatment effects in a comprehensive sample of 53 experimental papers drawn from the journals of the American Economic ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Problems of the randomization test for AB designs

open access: yesPsicológica, 2009
Los diseños de caso único implican registrar la conducta de la misma unidad experimental. Las mediciones obtenidas suelen ser pocas debido a los costes temporales y también es probable que presenten dependencia serial.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Study on the causal relationship between educational attainment and delirium: A two-sample Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesHeliyon
This study aimed to investigate whether there is a causal relationship between educational attainment and delirium at the genetic level using the Mendelian randomization method, and provide new evidence for studies in this field.
